It's an exciting day for members of the River City Classics Car Club.

The Eamon's gas station that stood for decades along Highway 1-A on the way between Calgary and Cochrane today makes its way from Stavely to the High River Ag Grounds.

Jeff Langford, with the club, says it should be quite the sight.

"We're going to be moving it down the highway anywhere, weather permitting and (power) line lifting permitting, from I'd say from about 8 o'clock on, coming from Stavely to the Ag Grounds," he says. "It should be here, I've got a range of times between Noon and about 2 o'clock in the afternoon it should be arriving."

He says the movers don't want people stopping along the highway but there are side roads where anyone who's interested can pull off and get a picture.

"Of course you can imaging with the logistics of moving that size of building they don't want a lot of traffic around, but people are welcome to park on the side of the road and take picture off the road on side streets," Langford says. "It's going to be coming down 498th Avenue, it'll travel over the number 2 Highway and head west and come right over to the Ag Grounds that way so there's quite a few roads off to the side if people want to park on the side out of the way, not on the road and take some pictures they're more than welcome too."

Langford says club members will also be on hand at the Ag Grounds to safely direct people to an area where they can take photos if they'd like.

He says they've already put down rig mats to place it on and the movers will put it on the foundation when it's ready. The issue is the weather and ground test reports need to come back showing it's safe to put it exactly where they want it, beside the Tractor Museum.
