Okotoks' flood readiness game stepped up another level this week.

The Province announced $80,500 in grant funding for the Town.

Ken Thevenot, Okotoks Fire Chief, was in High River for the announcement where they went over equipment and had demonstrations regarding flood preparedness.

He says the Town has no shortage to access of equipment in case of an emergency.

"We do have our provincial stockpile that's in the MD of Foothills by Aldersyde but we also have our own equipment storage here as well. We have sand bags, dyking materials, and sand bag machines all readily available in our public works yard."

He adds the funding will help build on their current stock.

"It gives us more equipment that we may not of had from before, it supplements what we do have now from our command trailer down to our dyking materials, but this added equipment will certainly supplement what we do have and increase preparedness for our team."
