The Okotoks Rotary Club has come up with a clever way to raise funds while endorsing family fun amidst the COVID pandemic.

Trish Henderson, Community Services Director for the Okotoks Rotary Club, says this event will give local residents a much-needed boost.

"Families have been locked down for how many months now, other than going for walks. This is something you can do with social distancing, and the schools could benefit from it," said Henderson.

The Scavenger Hunt/Car Rally will send teams of up to six people out in vehicles to gather items and take photos in a three-hour time frame, which they will bring back in hopes of winning a prize. Participants will also be gifted with a barbeque package they can take home and enjoy afterward.  And it all takes place on Saturday October 3rd.

Henderson adds that helping the community schools is important as classes resume under new restrictions.

"This was something we can give back to the community. I think most people want their children to be able to go back to school safely. If we can help with some part of it to make that happen, that's why I wanted to do it," she said.

Proceeds from the event will assist local schools with associated costs for ppe as students return to school.
