Foothills residents will head to the polls today to vote in Canada's 43rd general election.

Okotoks residents who wish to vote will need to head to either the Okotoks Rec Centre, or the Foothills Centennial Centre, depending on the information given on your voting card.

Would-be voters are encouraged to bring their voter information card as well as a piece of identification to vote. If a resident doesn't have a voting card, they need to ensure they bring a piece of ID that proves their physical residence.

Five confirmed candidates are running in the Foothills riding. They include incumbent Conservative MP John Barlow, Liberal Cheryl Moller, Mikail Hendi of the NDP, the Green Party's Bridget Lacey, and Greg Hession with the PPC.

Polls open at 7:30 a.m. and will stay open until 7:30 p.m. tonight.
