UPDATE: RCMP have confirmed that the incident has ended and a suspect is in custody.

At around 9 am, Okotoks RCMP received a call from a warning of gunshots in an Okotoks residence.

The complainant was a bailiff attempting to serve an eviction notice to a resident and had called RCMP after hearing a gunshot from inside.

RCMP cleared the area, evacuating some residents from nearby homes.

Once the area was locked down with help from the Emergency Response Team, officers and police dog units were deployed.

High River and Turner Valley RCMP were also called to the scene.

No physical harm to residents, officers, or the man was reported.

A male Okotoks resident is currently in custody with charges pending, and the investigation is ongoing.

RCMP would like to thank residents for their cooperation, as well as the Town of Okotoks for their contingency plan for displaced residents.
