Okotoks is home to numerous community events all year, but what fuels these festivals and displays of local culture are the volunteers in and behind the scenes.

The town is calling on all new and veteran volunteers to help out with the rest of their summer events this year.

Volunteer Coordinator Sian Anderson says the town and can always use the help.

"The town is always in need of volunteers, as throughout the year," she says. "We have various opportunities, so coming up in summer it's one of our busiest times of the year for special events."

The volunteer possibilities are endless for certain events, ranging from Bingo callers at the High Country Lodge to iPad operators at town events like the upcoming Chili-Fest.

Anderson says all you really have to do is go online to the town website or give them a call.

"Check-out the volunteer job board," she says. "www.okotoks.ca/volunteer it will provide you with all details you need to get started, and the volunteering is really for everyone."

Anderson is hoping youth will take advantage of the volunteer opportunities the town has to offer, giving them a chance to add some more experiences to their eventual job applications.

"Giving back to a community, helping your neighbours and the people that are around you, but if you're a young person looking to build up your resume then it's a fantastic opportunity, with lots of really great things for our youth and any volunteer, they'll meet a lot of new people."
