The town of Okotoks and the Foothills Catholic Immigration Services to Celebrate Canada's 149th birthday.

Wylie Park was home to the event, it had everything from bouncy castles and crafts for the kids, to live entertainment for the whole family.

Community events assistant Rosane Pinchin says that the event was organized to celebrate Canada and Canadians.

"We really wanted to embrace the different cultures that make up the Okotoks and Foothills areas."

The FCIS organized a tasting of food from different countries around the world.

There was food from places like Mexico to Thialand.

"It was wonderful to have that, to try a bunch of new and different things," Pinchin says.

Having the different foods from the different countries showed the vast multi cultural community that the Foothills and Okotoks has.

Pinchin says that showing the different communities within the Foothills is one of the main reasons they held to event, to celebrate how wonderful Canada is.

"That is the wonderful thing about Canada is people come here from all over to become Canadian."
