Tenants from Heritage Park Estates Mobile Home Park attended a presentation on Friday to learn more about their rights under the Mobile Home Sites Tenancies Act.

The presentation was put on by employees from Service Alberta at the request of the tenants after problems with their landlord had arose.

"We need action sooner than later, and I have a feeling that this is going to take a very long time." said a tenant, who wished to not be identified.

The tenant's rent was raised on Jan. 1, and now included in the rent is a charge for internet that the tenants have to pay, whether they use the service or not.

"They hand delivered a letter to every door stating that January 1st you will have to go on Shaw Internet." the tenant said.

They added that they had the Landlord in her home and the answer to "what if you don't use it?" was that it did not matter, all tenants had to pay for the internet.

With the increase in rent it makes Heritage Park Estates one of the most expensive mobile home parks in Alberta.

"The landlord's comment back was, ours is the nicest park, and I said yeah, because the people here own their houses and take pride in where they live."

The tenants are looking into putting a Mobile Home Advisory Board in place which will require the approval of Okotoks Town Council.
