The Town of Okotoks is looking to start a new Christmas tradition.

They are looking for residents and businesses to submit their homes or store fronts with the best outdoor Christmas light displays. The top 25 will be included on a map compiled by the Town of stops for residents to drive by and admire.

Carla Trigiani, Communications Specialist for the Town of Okotoks, says the goal is to make it a community wide initiative.

"We want to make sure everyone gets involved, and obviously we've got Light Up Okotoks but there are some businesses that might do a little bit more so we are trying to make this something fun and we want it to be community thing so people are nominating each other or nominating themselves."

Trigiani says they'll be offering bus tours of the lights to local seniors.

"We will be working with the local seniors' homes and arranging for transportation for them to come and view the homes as well, we just wanted to make sure we have the little buses. The mayor will onboard with them as well and we'll have hot chocolate on there too."

Submissions can be done online by Dec. 7.
