If you want to take you kids out skating and give them that outdoor rink experience then look no further than the Landmark Site.

For next few weeks the rink on the corner of McRae St and Clark Ave will be open for children's skating.

Community Events Coordinator Mark Doherty says its a great way to keep the young ones active while participating in a Canadian pastime.

"It's really geared for little kids, so its a smaller rink, there's no hockey allowed on it and every Saturday starting on January 9 to February 27," he says.

Doherty hopes the Landmark skating will encourage families to get out more in the community.

"We have fire pits going to keep warm, there's free hot chocolate, we have music playing and its just a chance for families to get out and get active, get off the couch, get active embrace that cold weather as all Canadians do."

If you can't make it this Saturday for the Landmark skating you're in luck as Sunday the Town will have another skating event but at a different location.

"This is our old fashioned skating party and this happens at the Rec Centre and it runs from 1-3, same concept," he says. "Last year we estimated close to 1000 people throughout the day came out to skate on that win.

The Landmark rink skating time is from 11 till 3 o'clock till February 27th.
