The Okotoks Food Bank's shelves are quickly filling with the help of the community.

With the MarketSquare Okotoks Christmas Festival wrapping up many donations have found their way to the Okotoks Food Bank.

Sheila Hughes, Executive Director of the food bank says there are a lot of people to thank for the donations.

"The people that put the set together, Country Living, they were just incredible they went over and above what we expected for Santa's mobile north pole... Billy is an amazing photographer, it was wonderful that she was able to help out again this year and of course Adriana and Andrea from MarketSquare. They are always so supportive of us and also the Okotoks Children's Place who donated their time."

Hughes says families are also appreciated for contributing to the cause.

"Were thankful to for all of the families who took pictures with Santa. I think there was a lot of people there who appreciated that there were no big lines like in Calgary sometimes and Santa is amazing so we were very lucky to have him there and everybody else ."

All the donations Hughes says will supply the food bank until spring.

"This will help with Christmas and honestly it will help us get through to May because after Christmas things typically quiet down considerably when it comes to donations. So any money we receive at Christmas we put it towards the hampers and then after that we use it to purchase food throughout the winter."

A dollar from each Christmas Festival ticket bought will be donated as well as all the donations from the children's work shop ran by the Children's Place will also fund the food bank.

On top of that Billy Metz Photography donated $2,265.00 from the Santa sessions.
