"We responded to four grass fires, we had one person trapped in an elevator, four motor vehicle accidents, eight medical responses and four alarm system activations," Thevenot says.

The big news was the wildfire that spread near two farms near the Gladys Ridge area where the department assisted the M.D. of Foothills in putting out the blaze.

Thevenot says they responded to more grass fires in the last couple of weeks thanks to the lack of moisture and dry weather,

"The fields are really dry at this time with some days when we have these winds, the fire can really spread. The source of ignition for this particular fir that consumed about 35 acres we couldn't find it. But I would remind individuals discarding smoking material to be very cautious."

Thevenot says going into the Easter weekend everybody whether out or in town needs to remember their surroundings and be cautious even more so with fire restrictions put in place.

"It's very dry out there, take extra care when you're outside of our community or even inside it and if you see anything, early detection for us is the key to get extinguishment  on these fires because they spread so fast."

There is still a complete fire ban in the M.D. of Foothills.
