Baseball season is definitely here and the Okotoks Dawgs came out with a bang.

Last nights event gave the players the opportunity to interact with their very loyal and intense fan base.

Dawgs Operations Manager Ryan van Keulen says the organization loves to connect with their supporters.

"This is really great to have all the fans out and meet all the players, have the players see how intense and how committed our fan base is to this team and to the community. So its a great event for the community to see what's going on, see all the new additions that have come in from the off season but for the most part just showing these players how much these fans care for the team."

Fan Fest had a bunch of activities for their young fans that included: a dunk tank, pitching radar gun, base races, face painting, bouncy castle, and autographs from the players.

van Keulen says even with the unpredictable weather it was a great turn out.

"The turnout was amazing. We weren't sure how it was going to turnout with the weather kind of raining off and on during the day but like Okotoks and like this community does, the weather turned for us and everyone decided to come out so we had a great turnout and all the players are ecstatic for the season to start and I think all the fans are too."

The Dawgs home opener is June 3rd against the Fort McMurray Giants and all 50/50 proceeds will go towards wildfire relief up north.
