As residents and as tax payers Okotokians should be pleased to hear that damage reports have dropped immensely.

The month of May was destructive as the town received ten different reports in just a short two week span but things have recently done a 180.

Town Councillor Tanya Thorn says, "Interestingly enough Monday's meeting the damage report was significantly down, so it's good, until then we were consistently seeing it climb, particularly around the amount of graffiti we were dealing with."

No certain area was constantly being targeted with vandalism but graffiti tags were popping up around places such as: Minue Park, Johnson Park and Cimarron Park.

Thorn says she believes the mobile app Click 'N Fix played a huge part in the damage report turn around.

"I encourage all residents to have the app, I have it on my phone. If there is a a problem that they see, whether that be graffiti, a broken bench, something that is a hazard to the community or whatever. They can just take a photo of it on the app, report it and then we get it into the log and address it."

Though the month of May was a rough patch for the town Thorn says Okotokians are lucky to live in such a respected community.

"In a lot of ways we are lucky in Okotoks. I think a lot of people take pride in our community because we are a relativity well taken care of community. And part of that is credited to our park staff because we do clean up issues like this right up; they just don't exist....but I think in general our community has a lot of respect."
