A local entrepreneur has made Avenue Calgary's Top 40 under 40 list.

Owner of Lube Town in Okotoks, and two locations in Calgary, Amy Giang was honoured to be included in the ranking.

Giang opened her first location in 2008 when she was 30-years-old and eight months pregnant with her first child.

She says the biggest inspiration behind her worth ethic is her father.

"We immigrated to Canada in the '80s and I remember coming on Valentine's day. We came with no coats, no money, and we didn't even speak English. My parents worked minimum wage around the clock because they refused to be on the system and they wanted independence. We're just truly grateful to be in Canada."

Giang was the first person in her family to have a university degree and had previously worked as a software engineer for the military developing control stations for unmanned aerial vehicles.

The thought of being a woman in an industry primarily consisting of men didn't cross her mind.

"I didn't make a conscious decision to try to succeed in a male dominated industry, I was simply doing what I love and I didn't let who was already in the industry stop me."

An emphasis on customer satisfaction has been recognized as Lube Town received a Consumer Choice Award for Southern Alberta for both 2015 and 2016 and has also been awarded with the Calgary Chamber of Commerce's Customer Service Excellence Award.

"The town itself is amazing, the Chamber of Commerce, the Okotoks Economic Development team... we really benefited from the full engagement and I feel really connected and supported by the town which I think is critical to our success."

The Okotoks Lube Town location can be found along North Railway Street and no appointment is necessary.
