The Okotoks BMX Track is home to a colourful new mural.

The mural's home is on the side of the start hill blocks and features a BMX rider and mountainous scenery.

The artists behind the mural are art teacher Sarah Johnson's students from Holy Trinity Academy who completed the work at the beginning of June.

Trudi Andres, president of Okotoks BMX Club, says the artwork incorporates all the elements the club was looking for.

"We wanted something that was related to the sport we love so much, plus the area we live in like the foothills and the mountains, so we wanted a mural to reflect all of those things and the students came up with that and it was a great fit for us."

She says the response to the mural has been great.

"From the parents I've heard lots of positive comments on how wonderful it looks, what a great addition it is to the club... it just beautifies the area."

According to Andres there are plans to place a mural on the other side of the start hill blocks in the future.
