National Nurses Week is about to wrap up.

The week serves to recognize LPN's, RN's, home care aids, and all other nursing staff for their hard work and dedication.

Okotoks resident Stacy Moore has been a registered nurse for 10 years and works at Rising Sun Long Term Care, Oilfields General Hospital and is a casual RN at Rural South Public Health and the Influenza and Rapid Response Program.

She says she knew from a young age she wanted to get into the profession.

"What drew me into nursing is the education, I wanted to pursue education when I was 18 so I went into nursing for the four years bachelor program and I wanted to mainly go into nursing because of the care and respect of nurses. I've always known that since I was a child that nurses are really respected and they care really well for people."

Moore says the little gestures from patients mean a lot.

"Being a registered nurse is one of the best jobs in the world. We all love it and come together and we all do it because of the people. We love to hear patients say thank you and we like to see them smile."

National Nursing Week runs from May 8- 14.
