Black Diamond Town Council received a letter from a student at Turner Valley School asking for money to be donated from the Town for the school's Legacy Park Project.

After much debate by council they turned down the request, and according to Mayor Sharlene Brown, it's because right now the Town doesn't have the money for parks.

"It's a great project and the parents have been doing a lot of work to get this park up and running, but the Town of Black Diamond just does not have the money for playground equipment for a school," Brown says.

Even though council turned down the project at this time, they are not looking past the fact that it's a great project for both communities.

Brown says ultimately it was council's decision and it is a good project, unfortunately right now it's something the Town can't help fund.

"We understand that school boards and parents associations all need somewhere to play."
