An update on the snow removal progress in Okotoks.

Crews are still working on primary routes heading into the weekend where it's been around the clock plowing and sanding in the community.

Transportation Supervisor with the Town, Peter McDowell says when new snow falls, the initial process of clean-up gets reset again.

"We're about into day four of our seven day cycle where we started all over again from our snow fall on New Year's Day," he says. "Downtown snow removal is done, Elma Street snow  removal was done Wednesday."

The Town's focus this week besides primary arteries is getting roads in school zones up to par as students return to the classroom on Monday morning.

McDowell says plows will hopefully have all of the school snow cleared and on to another busy roadway by then.

"As of Monday we are going to try to move on to Cimarron Boulevard and that will probably be a two or three day process there trying to work around collection day as well."

While a pile of residents in town are on secondary priorities for when it comes to clearing snow, if the situation is getting worse in areas, McDowell says contacting operations can help you get out of a jam.

"We have really great residents here, we try to address all concerns from residents as quickly as we can. We had a few where we've gone in and assessed and where we've had to do some snow removal, we have to make the road passable."
