Plenty of projects gearing up or on the go for the Town of High River heading into Canada Day.

The Town is working to replace the chain link fence between Emerson Lake and the overflow pond on the north end of the lake.

They're also replacing the old wildlife viewing station.

The fence has fallen into disrepair and has actually fallen down in spots.

It's also covered in barbed wire, making it a hazard.

That work is expected to be finished by mid-summer.

Some road work happening next week as well, with 12th Avenue closing from the entrance to Baker Creek Village to 72nd Street as part of the southwest dike work.

It'll close Monday, June 29, and is one of several closures planned for 12th Avenue from the Centre Street traffic circle to 72nd Street during the construction, which will last until fall.

The section of 12th Avenue between Baker Creek Village and 72nd Street West will be closed for a few days starting Monday, June 29.

The Town is also changing the traffic pattern on High Country Drive at Centre Street, where they've been doing roadwork between Lineham Acres and the recycling depot.

The Town will close the eastbound lanes between Centre Street and the mall access, and convert the westbound lanes to two way traffic while they continue to work on repairing the sanitary sewer lines under the road.

That work should be wrapped up later this year.

As well, construction will continue on Centre Street through town with crews working their way south from McLeod Trail now.

That should be finished by fall.

And the Town will begin installing new three hour parking limit signs downtown over the next few days.

The new restrictions come into effect Monday, July 6.

These marked areas will all be restricted to three hour parking only by Monday, July 6.
