It was an average week of calls for the Okotoks Fire Department in this week's edition of the Fire Report.

Fire Chief Ken Thevenot says they had 19 different responses but no fire calls.

"We assisted with 11 medical responses, three alarm system activations, one was carbon monoxide and a couple smoke investigations," he says. "We had two motor vehicle accidents we attended to and then three gas leaks."

During last week's Fire Prevention Week with the theme of 'Don't Wait, Check The Date" Thevenot says Fire Services had plenty of inquiries on all kinds of smoke detectors and also saw an number of residents sign-up for their home inspection programs.

"We had a lot of good discussions about carbon monoxide detectors, hardwired smoke detectors, when do you check them and when do you change them, how do you test them. So there was plenty of information handed out, we had a few people sign-up for our home inspections so we hope to continue to have a few more lined up as well."

Thevenot is reminding the public to be aware of more and more winter like conditions as get into the late months of the year.

"The black ice right now with some of the snow coming and freezing in the mornings just be mindful of that when you're walking down sidewalks and be aware of the black ice out there."
