In Jason Kenney's first conference as Premier Elect on Wednesday April 17 he has formally announced the date that his new cabinet will be officially sworn in.

"Earlier this afternoon I had the honour of meeting with Her Honor the Lieutenant Governor who invited me to form Her Majesty's next Alberta Government. I have accepted that invitation and indicated to Her Honour that we seek the transition and swearing in of a new cabinet on April the 30th."

Kenney says he is hoping to have the first legislature sitting in the third week of May.

In that sitting he says they will be discussing Bills one and two.

"I can also announce that work has already begun in planning to implement the agenda which Albertan's endorsed yesterday. So Bill number one in that legislature session will be the Carbon Tax Repeal Act, and Bill number two will be the Open For Business Act."

Kenney says he will soon be able to stand up for Alberta and defend her economic interests to the Premier of BC and Quebec, Both of which have congratulated Kenney on his election win, but are standing firm on their pipeline stances.

"Well we are going to act according to the best interests of Alberta, I think the job of the Premier of Alberta is to defend our vital economic interests. For me that means demonstrating to the Government of British Colombia and other Provincial Governments that we mean business."

Local MLA Elect, Roger Reid says he is also looking forward to getting back to work in Edmonton, and getting Alberta working again.
