With three sold out regular season games this weekend, and playoffs ahead for the Okotoks Dawgs, the town is creating more options for parking near Seaman Stadium.

The Operations Centre at 100 1118 North Railway Street will now be available for overflow parking for spectators.

Kelly Stienwand, Municipal Enforcement Manager, says the town is hoping the new parking available will ease the traffic nightmare around the stadium.

"I know that the additional expected pressures for parking are going to be an issue coming up, so we're happy to announce the town is actually going to have some overflow parking available. You'll likely see our peace officers helping direct traffic to some overflow parking. That's great parking, it's convenient, it's close, and in some ways it's easier to get out of the area after the game as well."

Stienwand encourages spectators to expect the traffic to be a little hectic, and is hoping everyone will watch out for pedestrians and drive with care in the area.

He says if you're not into parking at the Operations Centre, there are still some places spectators can absolutely not park.

"We want to ensure we can get emergency vehicles, and apparatus into the area, so this year the east side of Don Seaman way is essentially a fire lane, that's a place where we just can't have anyone parking. There's also the obvious things; So people who would pull up onto the grass, and the boulevards, that's a common sense thing, we just hope that people use better judgement and find a more appropriate place to park."

Not only is Municipal Enforcement excited about the new parking, they're also very excited about the Dawgs record season.

"Go Dawgs! This is exciting for our community, we're very happy to be partnering with the Dawgs Club, we have a strong relationship. You'll likely see our peace officers at the event, and we encourage everyone to come up and say hi, and ask any questions they may have."

The Dawgs play Friday, and Saturday at 7:05, and on Sunday at 2:05.
