A clinic in Okotoks is opening its doors to a new doctor.

The Sheep River Medical Clinic is welcoming Dr. Vishal Hansraj, who is currently practicing in the United Kingdom.

Kris McGeoch, Clinic Manager at the Sheep River Medical Clinic, says Okotoks residents will be given precedence with Dr. Hansraj.

"I'm not going to advertise in Calgary at all, so the advertising will be done in Calgary Area Docs on the rural page so yes, for sure Okotoks will have priority," she says.

McGeoch says she experiences a demand for new doctors in town first hand.

"We do get calls daily of people asking to put their name on a list so I would assume that's a good assumption that are people are still needing doctors in this town."

Dr. Hansraj is scheduled to make his Okotoks debut as a family practitioner on August 17.
