Changes are coming to those attending Joe Clark and Spitzee School in the future.

The Foothills School Division has realigned their boundaries to help allievate an unbalanced number of students attending both High River schools.

Director of Planning Monica Kohlhammer says the boundaries will fix that burden.

"At Spitzee we had 91.5% and at Joe Clark we had 67.4%, we've been reviewing it since November 24th and the realignment really addresses that inbalance and also is reflective of the projected growth in High River," she says.

Kohlhammer says one community in particular will now join Joe Clark.

"Montrose will now be included within Joe Clark, we'll go from Montrose then some of the SE part of Centre Street and part of 2nd Avenue and then up on Centre Street."

Despite the changes to the boundaries, Kohlhammer wants residents to be reassured that the changes are in effect for new registrations to the division and if you have children currently enrolled in either school you don't have to necessarily move.

"There will minimized impact of changes on the current school families, exsisting families can remain in the schools they are today. Any new families coming to Foothills Division registering on September 1st, they will be directed to their new boundary school."

The boundary changes go into full effect this coming school year.
