Nanton Mayor Rick Everett is breathing a sigh of relief his Town likely won't fall under the control of any Provincial Growth Management Boards.

He says they nipped that in the bud a while back.

"The Council in Nanton decided that we didn't want to be part of a growth management board, and therefore sent a letter to the Calgary Regional Partnership, saying we no longer want to be part of the partnership, because we didn't think we wanted to be part of any growth management board."

He says he has nothing but sympathy for the Town's of Black Diamond and Turner Valley, who are going to be affected by any of the board's decisions, but won't have a voice in those decisions because of their population size.

Instead the M.D. of Foothills will represent the interests of those Town's in regional planning talks.

Everett says Nanton has instead worked to solidify their ties to the M.D. of Willow Creek and other municipalities within their region.
