Nanton's Mayor says businesses in his town are finding ways to grow and adapt despite a tough economy.

Rick Everett admits they've had a few businesses close their doors, but others are finding a way to thrive.

"Businesses are changing. We've had a couple of new ones come into town, and we're looking for more of course. But I'm thinking we're beginning to shape and move and be different from where we were."

He says a new Tim Horton's is looking to set up shop, and has been for a while, but they need to go through a process before they can open the doors.

"Administration is working very closely with the owners and the people who want to bring it in. As it unfolds, if they're following the right process and our planning development team says "Yup, they're doing it right," and the Planning Commission agrees to it, when they get here, they'll get here."

Everett says they're actively courting businesses to move to, or open up shop in Nanton, but he says they have to be the right fit for the community.
