One local Cowboy will be featured on an all rodeo documentary on CBC Thursday night.

Jake Burwash of Nanton will be on "Cowboy Up" as part of the First Hand Documentary series.

Burwash is a multiple time winning Canadian Bareback Riding Champion.

His father, Robin Burwash like his son also was a rodeo champion and says that rodeo is in Jake's Blood.

"I must say we tried to Jake to do anything but rodeo," he says. "He came to us and kind of laid it on the line that rodeo was what he wanted to do and he works hard at and is doing fairly well at it, its exciting for me especially being his father."

Jake is currently at Cochise College in Arizona on a rodeo scholarship and his father couldn't be prouder.

"If he gets his education paid for that's a bonus, if he winds up carrying on and becomes a big time rodeo star, well that that would be the greatest thing ever."

Robin says the documentary features everything his son goes through in the rodeo circuit.

"It just shows what they do at home, what they do to get ready and follows the pressures."

You can catch Cowboy Up tonight at 9 p.m.
