The Annual MS Ride is being held by the Canadian MS Society Calgary Chapter on Saturday.

Lance Appleby and his wife after a ride.

The Funds raised by the ride will go towards MS research.

Lance Appleby of Okotoks, is a participant in the ride and says that it is a fun weekend for a good cause.

"The ride will take place from Airdrie up to Olds, we will then stay the night in Olds and bike back the following day."

Riders raise funds by getting pledges for their ride.

These pledges are usually gained through emails or phone calls to family and friends.

Riders have their goals of what they hope to raise for the event.

"I planned to try to raise $500 and have raised over $600 so far," Appleby says.

Appleby has been a participant in the ride for the past 10 years.

He says that a friend of his got him involved.

"He knew that I did a lot of cycling and asked me to join, so I raised some money and have been doing the ride ever since."

A couple years later Appleby went to his High School reunion and found out that one of his old classmates was in remission from MS and he has put her name on his jersey ever since.
