Hundreds of motorcyclists helped The Magic of Christmas gear up to support families in need at Christmas time this year.

The Magic of Christmas Motorcycle Toy Run took place Sunday, with a route that started in Balzac and ended up at the Crescent Point Regional Fieldhouse in Aldersyde.

The Magic of Christmas President Allan Reid says all donations collected from the day's event will go straight to helping families in need during the Christmas season.

"Everything that's donated, all the money that's raised by the auctions, the ten dollar registration that people pay, all one hundred percent goes to the families that we visit at Christmas time," he says.

The first annual Magic of Christmas Motorcycle Toy Run was held in 2014 and while the number of participants has varied over the years, this year's event saw about 550 motorcycles registered for the day's ride.

Reid says The Magic of Christmas Motorcycle Toy Run is the kick-off to the charity's fundraisers as they prepare for the upcoming Christmas season.

He says that it's tough to beat the incredible feeling of being able to bring joy to a needy family at Christmas.

"That's the best part," he explains. "We see so many families, so many stories. Some will break your heart, some will make you jump with joy. I don't know of anything else that would have the same reaction."
