One Okotoks artist is on her way to try and live out her music career with a stop in Hollywood.

Samm Smith, 15, has traveled to Los Angeles and made it past her first audition to be a part of the hit reality series "The Voice".

Smith, who had applied to be on the show a while back, got quite the shot in the arm when she found out she was going to be in the audition process for the show.

"I was pretty startled," she says. "I didn't believe I actually made it. First of all, I had to send a video of you doing your act before you actually get on, so I sent in a video and got emailed back three days later saying you're on it. I was just really surprised, actually."

Smith says her tryouts won't have her meeting with the celebrity judges until later. If she does make it through it's going to be quite the journey.

"An a capella kind of audition before that, and then another audition with music actually while you're singing, and then you're on the blind auditions where you get the chair turns."

She says if she has a choice if all four judges turn their chairs, she has a preferred potential coach in mind.

"Definitely Adam (Levine)," she says. "Just because his music really speaks to me personally, and he'd just be a really awesome person to get to know. He's always been a person I've wanted to kind of go out for coffee with and just talk to, because he seems like such an interesting person, so definitely Adam."

The other judges on the show include pop star Christina Aguilera, Pharrell Williams, and country star Blake Shelton.

Before heading to Hollywood, Samm stopped by The Voice "Eagle 100.9 Edition" to get ready for the real thing.
