Work on the dangerous Dunbow Road interchange and traffic lights was a highlight for the Foothills MD in 2015.

It's been an eventful year for the Foothills MD.

Reeve Larry Spilak says one highlight was the establishment of the Quad Regional Water Partnership.

"Of course this was formed a year earlier but the implementation really took place in 2015," he says. "It was important not only to the MD of Foothills, but important to the other partners as well, being Black Diamond, Turner Valley, and Longview. We created a state of the art water facility in Turner Valley and by doing that we now have a good supply of treated water for all those three towns plus parts of the MD of Foothills."

He says they already have the funding in place from the provincial government to extend a water pipeline to Millarville and area to supply clean water to residents there.

Another big achievement was the traffic lights at Dunbow Road and Highway 2-A.

"We have been working on this for over three years and of course as governments get involved things take longer and engineers take longer," Spilak says. "We've had at least one fatality and many, many accidents there, it's a place that needed to be signalled in some shape or form and I've had nothing but thanks and gratitude for having that one completed from many residents that use that intersection."

He says over-all it's been a very positive year where the MD has been able complete projects that were put on hold because of the flood.
