Residents are invited to give their input on upcoming bylaw changes in the MD of Foothills.

The MD is looking for public engagement on cannabis legalization, secondary suites, the community standards bylaw, responsible dog ownership bylaw, and a potential name change from the Municipal District of Foothills No. 31 to Foothills County.

Julie Mclean, Senior Planner for the MD, says they'll be using the feedback as they make decisions.

"It will help us shape the policies, so the responsible dog ownership bylaw is mostly complete and it's more information for people, there will be a public hearing where they will be able to give their feedback to council. The other ones are really in the policy development stage so we're trying to find out what's important to our landowners."

Mclean says it's important residents have their voices heard.

"All of these policies are things that have the potential to have an influence on everybody, whether they live in a hamlet or on an acreage or agricultural parcel, so it's important that everyone comes out and lets us know how they feel about these issues and then we can make sure the policy we end up adopting will address their needs."

The open houses are as follows:

-Thursday, June 14, 4-8 pm, Scott Seaman Sports Rink
-Monday, June 18, 4-8 pm, Priddis Community Hall
-Tuesday, June 19, 4-8 pm, Crescent Point Field House
