The Justin Trudeau Liberals have their candidate in place for the Foothills riding.

Tanya MacPherson takes up the mantle heading into the Oct. 19 election.

She says she knows it'll be an uphill battle in the traditionally Conservative Foothills riding, but says if people want change, they want change.

And she believes the Liberals are the viable alternative for that change.

"The Liberals are a very centrist party," MacPherson says. "They're very supportive of oil and gas. I just think they are the party that will be an alternative for Alberta. I know historically, it's not natural, but given the change that we've seen in the last few years there are people who would like to see real change in the Federal Government."

MacPherson had worked as a chemist with Agriculture Canada and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency before moving into real estate where she owns a brokerage firm and property management company.
