Dozens of Foothills residents will be getting "Canada 150 Medals" for their volunteer work this summer.

One of them is Turner Valley Town Councillor Barry Crane who jokingly says he spends more time volunteering than at his actual jobs.

"Actually, I think I do volunteer more than I work. Just finished my last meeting as the President of the Foothills Lions Club. That was a huge commitment as the Chairman. But it was very enjoyable. And I really enjoyed this year's activities. I'm going to say we did a couple of thousand volunteer hours in this community again this year."

Other local notables are, High River's Tate Barton, Former High River Mayor Dan Campbell, Santa Claus Parade Chairman Ted Dawson "Mantracker" Terry Grant, Heaven Can Wait's Kim Hessel, Olympic Curler Shannon Kleibrink, Former Okotoks Mayor Bill McAlpine, Jim "Bearcat" Murray, Former High River Fire Chief Oliver Perry, Okotoks Town Councillor Ed Sands, High River Hockey Mom Tammy Beach and local Artist Bernie Brown.

A ceremony honouring the winners will go Wednesday, June 28 at 7 o'clock at the Highwood Memorial Centre.
