Despite no representation of the Liberal red in the Foothills riding, those who cast their X beside the new Liberal government are full of optimism and excited for change.

One anonymous supporter of Tanya MacPherson throughout the election says it will be interesting to see what the Trudeau Liberals come up with during their time as a majority leader this term, but there is confidence in elected Conservative MP John Barlow to serve the needs of the Foothills riding.

"While of course I wish that our Liberal Tanya MacPherson had won, I also hope that means that John can have that muzzle taken off for the support for the people of the Foothills and truly represent his riding."

He says he was a little surprised with the Liberal majority decision on Monday but when a majority is formed it allows for their promises to be kept.

"I'm excited for their mandate that they can carry through without having to sort of barter and trade away with a collation government some of the core principles, so I'm really excited they got a majority."

After the results were given in the Foothills with MacPherson ending up behind Barlow, the anonymous supporter says it would have been great to see a local Liberal candidate in the Foothills riding.

"You go in with the hope that it is going to be like this and you want change and from your perspective you believe that's the change that should happen but you know you're only one person in a sea of Canadians."
