At the end of May one Rotary Club Member and one Foreign Exchange Student will take on The Maritimes.

Rotary Club Member Cindy Kruschel and Spanish Exchange Student Sara Pous Grau will be embarking on a week adventure to fulfill one of Sara's goals off of the bucket list she was asked to make by Rotary when she arrived in Okotoks.

Her goal was to visit Charlottetown, P.E.I.; the home of her Mother's exchange 23 years ago.

Pous Grau says she couldn't believe when Rotary made her wish come true.

"I'm really excited, they asked me to do a goal list and I wasn't expecting to go to P.E.I. at all but miracles happen. When I go to P.E.I. I am closer to Spain than I am to Okotoks so when they told me I was going there I couldn't imagine it, I was like crying over the thought of it, it was really exciting."

The 15 year old exchange student from Vic, Spain says she can't wait to see the stories her mothers been telling her over the years come to life.

"I want to see what my mom has been talking about all these years and now that Rotary has given me this great opportunity and Cindy is coming with me to P.E.I. just to take me there and she's never been there so we are discovering P.E.I. together which is pretty exciting. But I just really want to see the things my mom has talked about."

Kruschel, Pous Grau's travel companion, says she's glad to be sharing this experience with Sara.

"Really I think it's just going to be two crazy girls with a rented car and really no where we have to be. The Maritimes is a beautiful place of the world and I want to do the old slow seaside routes, in and out of bays, there's just so many things to see...Sara she's enchanting, she's a wonderful kid and she's fun to be with and like a lot of teenage girls she talks a lot so I won't have to do a lot and it should be fun."

The Rotary Club Foreign Exchange Program is a great opportunity for local students to become more cultured and worldly in just one year, Sara says, "I've done so many things, when I talk with other people a lot of people say Sara in eight months you've done more than I have in all my life...I am really great here, I don't want to leave."

The ladies leave for their trip on May 24th and plan to visit a ton of Canadian landmarks, meet Sara's Mothers Rotary Club, host family and eat an abundance of seafood.
