Two brothers and two sisters from Okotoks made a splash on Lemonade Day, not just locally, but also all over the world.

The Whitney family with Draven, Declan, Mercedes and Maiden's drive-thru lemonade stand have been acknowledged by Lemonade Day International for their efforts last summer.

Lemonade Day Coordinator Ralph Tollens says 'Squeezed For Time" made the top three stands for 2016 where the decision was made at the main headquarters in Houston, TX.

"They have a city directors meeting where all the city directors go and they look at the different business results from the stands and the winner was somewhere in the US followed by two runners up, one in the states and one in Okotoks," he says.

The countries involved in Lemonade Day include Canada, The United States and South Africa.

Tollens says it's an incredible feat for Lemonade Day, especially when it was their inaugural year taking part in the event and the Whitney's stand did incredibly well.

"They submit to the Lemonade Day organization what they're business results were, the results are partly financial from how many glasses of lemonade did you sell? What was the cost? How much did you make? Who did you share with? Things like that, because we have three principles of Lemonade Day. Spend some, save some and share some."

Around 200 kids and 78 different stands took part on Lemonade Day last year and it will be back on June 11 this summer.

The event gained so much popularity that Okotoks Town Council made the proclamation that June 11 would be Lemonade Day.
