A local church needs takes on the role of Fairy God Mother and aims to grant 15 teen's wishes of making it to the big ball!

My Victory Church with My City Care have started the Cinderella Project here in town!

A project created to provide struggling young women with all of their grad necessities.

Meghan Harvey the spokesperson for the Cinderella Project in Okotoks says the project only aims to help and appreciate young women.

"It's for young girls who are experiencing financial pressure or hardships, like they're holding down jobs while studying or looking after siblings." Harvey says "We want to provide them with everything from there gowns for graduation, to shoes or professional photography to celebrate their big day."

Currently the Cinderella Project and their organizers are looking for nominations from anywhere in the Foothills for young graduating women in need, no matter which school they're attending.

Harvey says they're also looking for other types of donations, and are encouraging local businesses to get involved.

"So at the moment we're looking for donations of grad dresses, shoes and jewelry. We are also looking for services on the actual graduation days, such as hair, makeup and photography."

The nominations will be kept private says Harvey as the goal is to quietly make them feel valued and appreciated for their hard work.

"No one needs to know that they're going in, we want to protect their dignity and just love on them to celebrate their special day." Harvey adds "Graduations can be quite daunting, and paying for it may not even be an option for these girls, so we just want to show them that we value them and appreciate their struggles."

If you would like to help out or have items / services to donate to the project you can Email the organizers at okotoks@myvictory.ca or call them at 403-606-6812.
