A local businessman got more than he bargained for after returning to work Wednesday evening to meet with one of his clients.

Keenan Natyzak, of Hail Maxx on Fisher Crescent in Okotoks, opened his bay door to see approximately six youth fleeing an area around Crystal Ridge Drive and 32nd street.

Immediately after, he noticed smoke coming from the wooded area where he saw the kids running from.

Natyzak immediately ran back to his shop to gather as many extinguishers as he could and headed back to the smoking area.

Another citizen was on scene when Natyzak arrived and they both worked to contain the fire with the extinguishers while waiting for Fire and RCMP to arrive.

RCMP were on the scene first, running from yard to yard linking garden hoses together in an attempt to contain the blaze just as fire crews arrived.

There's been no word on the cause of the grassfire. Okotoks Online will provide updates as they become avilable.
