Foothills residents who have items to donate to Fort McMurray, but aren't sure how to get them there, now have an answer.

A 53 foot long trailer will be set up outside of Okotoks Sobeys where donations will be accepted for the victims of the wild fires.

Verg Reidlinger, owner of Good Time Party Rentals, says he found about 1,000 chairs and four barbecues in his inventory he no longer uses so the chain began of local businesses linking up.

"I thought they could use those items up north so I got a hold of my son who owns Canadian Oil Sands Construction in town who does a lot of work in Fort McMurray," he says. "Then I thought, well I can't fill this trailer, so my son got a hold of Mullen Trucking who he works with and they said yes we'll donate all the trucks you need. I called David at Sobeys, Dave and I have been good friends for years, and we got it all together."

Reidlinger says they're not accepting cash but are looking for non-perishable essential items like diapers, toiletries, dog food, toilet paper, and food.

If the first trailer is filled Mullen Trucking has offered to donate a second.

Individuals and businesses who have been collecting items to send to the evacuees but have no way of sending them up north yet are being encouraged to drop off their donation piles at the trailer.

Reidlinger says he's currently working on the logistics of hauling the load and says the items will most likely be dropped off in Lac La Biche.
