A local bakery found a way to cater to peoples sweet tooth's while supporting the Okotoks Legion.

In honour of Remembrance Day last week, 94 Take the Cake created special poppy themed baked goods where proceeds from the treats went to the Legion.

Sherry Lindenback, owner of 94 Take the Cake, says giving back to the community is something her business values.

"It's important for our shop to not just be a retail location and service our day to day customers but also serve our community as a whole and look forward to what the best things for Okotoks are and try to help all groups in general and do our part."

In total the bakery raised $61 for the Okotoks Legion.

Lindenback says they tried to appeal to people of all ages with their poppy decorated items.

"We tried to get little kids excited about Remembrance Day as well and that's bringing in the cake pops because those typically go for kids and kids are still little, they don't quite fully understand the magnitude of the day and what it represents so I thought that would be a nice way to try to tie it in for the children to get them excited about the poppy and maybe ask questions."

According to Lindenback the idea behind the treats was well received as veterans and their families visited the bakery and expressed this was an idea they hadn't seen locally before and showed their support.
