Lemonade is apparently a very popular beverage.

Tate Barton's lemonade stand during the Little Britches Parade in May in High River raised $14,500 dollars for the Cancer Care Centre expansion at the High River Hospital.

Tate says it was a busy day.

"We just started with my Auntie Jackie buying fruit punch instead of lemonade so we were a little late the pink lemonade, and then it just went really well," Tate says.

He says he got a lot of help to raise the kind of money he did.

"Jim Walker got $7,000 altogether to donate and so we got that and then there's another $2,00 coming in so before the lemonade stand even started we actually already had over all the money that we had last year,." he says. "I had a whole bunch of friends donate at school and then there was Vance King, if he got $200 for my lemonade stand then he would cut his hair and if he didn't get $200, his mom would be prepared to throw in the extra hundred, and he actually ended up donating $1,200, and he got the haircut."

Tate and his family got to know the Cancer Care Centre and the nurses really well when his mother was going through chemo and after she passed away he decided to give back and each year he's managed to raise more money with the stand and become more well known. Even Foothills MP John Barlow has sung his praises in Parliament.

There's even talk more money could be added to the total this weekend.

Tate  says his dad, James, has told him to keep his goals in the hundreds, so next year's goal is $900, but it's likely that's go by the wayside quickly.
