Lemonade Day has received plenty of praise in the last few days, one family had their stand last summer named one of the tops in all of the world and now come this summer the Town of Okotoks has put its stamp on it.

Town Council approved officially that June 11 be claimed Lemonade Day to encourage the community to play an even bigger part in this year's event to help those young entrepreneurs learning about business.

Councillor Tanya Thorn says Lemonade Day creates and develops plenty of new skills for youth.

"Lemonade Day is an investment in kids and kids pull on all of our heart strings and this is a great way to help build our entrepreneurs from the ground up," she says.

"Getting the proclamation, the kids love to know that council has made a day about it and it was important to have that when we were going into schools for Lemonade Day presentations to encourage more participants this year."

Last summer over 200 kids and 78 stands hit the pavement all-over Okotoks selling 1000's of lemon goodness and Thorn says she hopes more of the same will continue on June 11.

"It allow them to learn if they invest in themselves that they have this opportunity to have some funds out of it."

Thorn fully supports Lemonade Day's model of promoting spending money on vendors selves, saving money and sharing money with others to help make communities better.
