Highwood Wildrose MLA Wayne Anderson is shaking his head over the latest move by the NDP.

The government is suing itself, along with power companies Enmax and Epcor, who have chosen to follow the regulations the government signed off on back in 2000, and want out of their contracts to buy electricity.

The power company's want out because the Province's new carbon tax will make it "too unprofitable" to continue, which shocked the NDP.

Anderson says he can't believe they didn't know about it.

"They admitted themselves that they didn't do their research. So, what does that tell you? Obviously these idealogues that don't understand how businesses truly operate. There are contractual obligations when you're dealing with major corporations. And you should read the contracts before you make any sort of amendments to it."

He says in the end the government will cost taxpayers a further two-billion dollars with the lawsuit, and will scare away investment dollars for years to come.
