Minister Danielle Larivee says Municipal Affairs has been working very closely with High River Town Council and staff to fund their remaining projects with the Disaster Recovery Program.

She says there's been lots of progress, but it could be a while yet before things are completed.

"We're thinking maybe 2018 based on the kind of information that we're having with that. But again, open files just mean we're continuing to have a conversation and working together to ensure that we really help with the recovery of the community and the municipality moving forward."

The Municipal Affairs office notes they have funded over 35 municipal projects in the past five months. Larivee says the government is in close contact with the town to support recovery and mitigation efforts.

"Certainly our staff continues to work very closely with the High River council and their staff. We're providing the DRP information and updates on a weekly and honestly sometimes daily basis. We continue to work with the Town of High River to help fund the remaining projects as part of their DRP file."

She says the Managing Director of the Alberta Emergency Management Agency is in contact with the town's CAO on a weekly basis, and weekly updates are sent to the DRP Advocacy Committee to make sure they are aware of the progess that's being made.

"Certainly there are a number of projects that are taking time. As we said, the managing director is personally in touch with the town on a regular basis. So, we've not received any indication to date that they have any concerns, but we have quite close connections and a strong relationship with them. So if any concerns came up, then I know for certain they'll let us know and we'll continue to work with them."

Overall the provincial government continues to support High River, with over $350 million spent in the region for recovery and mitigation efforts.
