KidSport and Okotoks Kraft Hockeyville teamed up on Saturday.

At the Hockeyville meet and greet at the Canadian Brewhouse, KidSport set up a truck where people could drop off their used sports equipment.

Shannon Kleibrink, local curling Olympian, says the event was a success.

"It was great, we had lots of community support, lots of people came and dropped off their used equipment" she says. "We have to thank Okotoks Ford who gave us a nice, shiny new truck and we filled that truck half full."

Before the sports equipment is given a new home it's taken to Calgary.

"If families come forward and require equipment for their kids they can go to a place called Comrie's in Calgary and pick up all the equipment they need at no charge."

Comrie's cleans and repairs the equipment before it goes to families in need.

Kleibrink says anyone looking to donate sports equipment can drop it off at Okotoks Ford.
