The Town of Okotoks is reminding residents to do their part and shovel their snow this winter.

When it comes to sidewalks the Town says snow clearing is the responsibility of the adjacent property owner.

For sidewalks that border parks or town buildings Okotoks crews will do the snow removal.

If a sidewalk lines businesses and homes the private property owner is responsible for clearing the snow.

Residents are reminded to be careful when walking outdoors this time of year as the ground can become very slippery.

To help combat icy sidewalks residents can pick up free sand at the Okotoks Recycling Centre and both fire stations.
