Okotoks has a variety of options to keep residents active outdoors over the winter.

With snow in the forecast next week, residents will soon be able to use outdoor rinks, toboggan hills, and multi-use trails.

Christa Michailuck, parks manager for the Town, says these trails are great for snowshoeing.

"For those residents who want to get out snowshoeing we do have the single track trails in Cimarron that were built by volunteers so in the summer you can walk on them and ride your bike, and in the winter they're great for snowshoeing or just walking and enjoying nature."

Michailuck says residents can also look forward to cross country ski trails.

"New this winter we are piloting some cross country ski trails which will be at Lawden Park, which of course are depending on snow, but we will groom those trails with a track setter after we've completed our pathway snow clearing."

The cross country ski trails are a joint effort between the Nordic Ski Club and the Town with participation from Westmount School.
