Kayben Farms in Okotoks is getting ready for a preseason opening.

Typically Kayben's regular season begins in May but this year co owner Judy Kolk says they decided to open a bit earlier.

Kolk says the warmer temperatures have lead to the advanced opening.

"We got together with our managers from the area and we said what do you guys think, is this crazy, should we try this? Every body was on board," she says. "We thought we have to come up with some sort of criteria, what days will we be open and what days won't we and how will we communicate that so it's not frustrating to people, so we came up with a plan and decided to roll it out."

Kolk says from March 11th to May 6th people are asked to keep their eyes peeled online to make sure they'll be open.

"Everyday that Environment Canada predicts double-digit weather and is not predicting precipitation, we'll be open. We will post the decision by 8:00 a.m. daily, open or not, and it'll also be on our Facebook page. We'll look at the week ahead of time and say yeah it looks like we're probably going to be open Thursday and maybe Saturday."

Not all of Kayben's attractions will be open for the preseason. Open attractions will include the berry bounce, mini berry bounce, munchkin meadows, play structure, grain bin, cafe washroom, and a small selection of snacks and beverages will be available as well.

The full farm animal display, corn maze, cafe kitchen, pedal karts, and pre booked birthdays or groups will remain unavailable until the regular season begins.

Preseason pricing is half price regular admission or half price family admission. A 2016 season pass can also be used.
